Biography

Kemper Lewis is the Moog Professor of Innovation and Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University at Buffalo.  He is also the Director of the Sustainable Manufacturing and Advanced Robotic Technologies (SMART) Institute where advanced concepts in automation, additive manufacturing, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence are being developed in the context of Industry 4.0.  He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and has served on the National Academies Panel on Benchmarking the Research Competitiveness of the United States in Mechanical Engineering. He has received research and education awards from ASME, SAE, ASEE, AIAA, NSF, and the State of New York.
