Shambhu Upadhyaya is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo where he also directs the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, designated by NSA and DHS. His research interests are cyber threat modeling, detection, and mitigation of attacks. He has authored over 300 articles in refereed journals and conferences. His current projects involve insider threat assessment, continuous authentication, and deception to deal with advanced persistent threats. In 2017, he developed and offered one of the first public courses on coursera.org: Digital Manufacturing Security. He is a recipient of the IEEE Region 1 Technological Innovation in Academic Award in 2018. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
